The Client’s Story

Roger and Sandy Plante came to RenoVista Construction with a vision — and a set of challenges that made their home feel more confining than comforting. Their kitchen was closed off by walls that separated it from the living and dining areas, creating a space that felt isolated rather than inviting. The bathroom, meanwhile, had an awkward layout with a cramped shower and a tub placement that blocked natural light.

They loved their home but didn’t love spending time in these spaces. Entertaining friends and family felt disconnected, and day-to-day life lacked flow.

What they wanted was clear: to open up their home, connect the spaces, and breathe new life into the kitchen and bathroom — turning frustration into function and creating a place that felt warm, open, and modern.

The Dream

Roger and Sandy shared inspiration photos of airy, open spaces filled with light — homes that felt both functional and beautiful. They envisioned a kitchen that brought everyone together, where cooking, conversation, and connection could happen seamlessly.

In the bathroom, they wanted to reclaim space and comfort — to reconfigure the layout so it made sense, allowed natural light to flow in, and offered room to relax. The shower would move, the tub would find a better home, and everything would come together in a cohesive design that felt fresh, timeless, and personal.

Initial Hesitations

Having experienced less-than-ideal renovations in the past, Roger and Sandy were understandably cautious. They wanted a contractor who valued communication, cleanliness, timing, and craftsmanship — and a team that would take ownership if surprises arose.

Challenges & Solutions

Subfloor Stability:
During demolition, the team discovered that the subfloor wasn’t the correct thickness for the new hardwood floors. RenoVista removed the old material down to the joists and rebuilt the subfloor to meet structural and design standards — ensuring long-term durability and smooth flooring transitions.

Structural Support:
To achieve the open-concept design, Roger and Sandy wanted to avoid using a steel beam. The team engineered a custom solution using two separate beams supported by a single decorative column at the end of the kitchen island — a perfect blend of form and function that preserved the airy, open aesthetic.

The Wow Factor

When the final touches were complete, the transformation was undeniable. The open kitchen, the natural light, the beautifully reconfigured bathroom — every element told the story of a home reborn.

Roger and Sandy now say they feel “so at peace” in their home — and that sense of calm and connection is exactly what RenoVista strives to deliver with every project.

Life in the New Space

Today, mornings for Roger and Sandy look completely different. They start their day in a bright kitchen that feels alive with energy and openness. The bathroom is no longer an afterthought but a sanctuary.

They describe their home as peaceful, comfortable, and finally theirs — a far cry from the confined and disjointed layout they once lived with.

Why They Chose RenoVista

With RenoVista’s full-service Design + Build approach, the Plantes knew they had found their match. Our design process gave them confidence, allowing them to visualize their new home before any demolition began.

Sandy shared, “I’m not the most visual person, so being able to see how everything would look before construction even started made all the difference.”

From concept to completion, the RenoVista team worked closely with Roger and Sandy to bring clarity, calm, and creativity to every phase of their renovation.

The Client Review

“Our home was in desperate need of bathroom and kitchen renovations. In July of 2023 we began searching for a company we could trust to do the job for us. We saw advertising on social media for many different contractors. We decided to have RenoVista Construction take a look at what we had in mind. Josh came over and listened to our ideas. We wanted to remove a wall between the kitchen and living room to open up the area and also to put in a large island and install wood flooring in the kitchen to match the rest of the house, new sink and counters. Turns out that the wall was load bearing. He put us at ease with our concerns with that and other questions we had.

The bathroom was in need of a total gut out with new fixtures, large shower, tiled floor, removing and blocking a doorway to a bedroom and also building a closet.

He was positive he could give us exactly what we wanted. He wasn’t pushy and didn’t employ any high-pressure tactics. He said to take our time, get other quotes and if we decided to have his crew do the work, to give him a call and would be more than happy work with us.

We decided to have RenoVista do the renovations and we are extremely happy we did. Josh and his crew Marco, Devin and Jacob did a fantastic job! We couldn’t be happier! They even matched the new hardwood flooring in the kitchen and dining room with the original! It looks great! When a couple of unforeseen issues came up, they were brought to our attention with options to remedy them.

We have received so many compliments on the work that they did. They were very professional, cleaned up after themselves every day, and were very respectful to our privacy and property.

We liked the work that Josh and his crew did for us so much, that we just hired them to install replacement windows in the spring of 2024! Can’t wait to see how they’ll look!”
